This image shows our planet Earth as seen from a point 55,000 kilometres above the Netherlands or, to be more precise, above the workplace in Rotterdam where this artist impression was created.
We see Europe in the middle, with Africa below and Greenland and the North Pole above. The sunlight comes from the left and is reflected in the Atlantic Ocean southwest of Ireland. In North and South America it is morning; in Dubai, Teheran and Omsk the lights are just going on.
From the ocean clouds and depressions are on their way but for now The Netherlands and its neighbouring countries are bathing in late afternoon sunshine.
