Artist's Description
This image was created by merging 12 photos taken on a beach along the IJssel river near Deventer. Afterwards a number of digital operations were used to create a picturesque ambience.
Besides the beach, the river and the breakwater with the mark for inland navigation, also the railway bridge has a prominent position in the image. On the top right the city of Deventer is visible; a fence in the upper left part indicates work on the Room for the River program.
About Frans Blok
I'm a photographer, designer and visual artist based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The Lowlands by the Northsea inspire me tremendously.The grandness of their landscapes, the intimacy of their towns. The canals and rivers, the harbours and boats, the windmills, churches and houses. The ever changing skies over polders and floodplains. For centuries, these lands have inspired painters like Van Ruisdael, Vermeer, Mesdag and Maris. I spend many a day exploring the Netherlands by foot or bike, capturing the beauty of the urban and rural scenery with my camera.
