Windmill De Kameel (or: The Camel) is one of seven windmills in the city of Schiedam, but it's been away for a while. The mill, which was used to produce malt for the famous gin distilleries, was demolished in 1868 after a fire but was reconstructed and reopened in 2011.
I'm a photographer, designer and visual artist based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The Lowlands by the Northsea inspire me tremendously.The grandness of their landscapes, the intimacy of their towns. The canals and rivers, the harbours and boats, the windmills, churches and houses. The ever changing skies over polders and floodplains. For centuries, these lands have inspired painters like Van Ruisdael, Vermeer, Mesdag and Maris. I spend many a day exploring the Netherlands by foot or bike, capturing the beauty of the urban and rural scenery with my camera.
