The town of Alkmaar is famous for it's cheese market and for it's well-preserved historic center in general. Here, at the corner of two canals, we see the Flower Boat on the left, the Fish Market on the right and, behind the bridge, the tower of the Weighing House in the background.
About Frans Blok
I'm a photographer, designer and visual artist based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The Lowlands by the Northsea inspire me tremendously.The grandness of their landscapes, the intimacy of their towns. The canals and rivers, the harbours and boats, the windmills, churches and houses. The ever changing skies over polders and floodplains. For centuries, these lands have inspired painters like Van Ruisdael, Vermeer, Mesdag and Maris. I spend many a day exploring the Netherlands by foot or bike, capturing the beauty of the urban and rural scenery with my camera.
