Description
The town of Brielle on the island of Voorne has one of the best preserved fortifications in the Netherlands. Its claim to fame is the liberation, as the first town in the country, from Spanish rule on April 1st 1572, which is still celebrated every year. In these more peacefull times the town and nearby lake is particularly popular among watersports enthusiasts.
