Artist's Description

Early evening in Delfshaven, the former port of Delft and nowadays a pretty neighbourhood of Rotterdam. On the right we see the Pilgrim Fathers Church, in which in 1620 the Pilgrim Fathers had their last service before leaving for America on their ship Mayflower. Next to it is brewery and restaurant De Pelgrim, home of several great local beers.

I'm a photographer, designer and visual artist based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The Lowlands by the Northsea inspire me tremendously.The grandness of their landscapes, the intimacy of their towns. The canals and rivers, the harbours and boats, the windmills, churches and houses. The ever changing skies over polders and floodplains. For centuries, these lands have inspired painters like Van Ruisdael, Vermeer, Mesdag and Maris. I spend many a day exploring the Netherlands by foot or bike, capturing the beauty of the urban and rural scenery with my camera.
