The name Myvatn means "Mosquito Lake" and indeed: especially in windless days an annoying lot of those critters are buzzing around your ears. They're not as cumbersome as the Scottish midges, but still you're happy when there is some wind. Otherwise you would almost forget to enjoy the bizarre and beautiful landscape.
I'm a photographer, designer and visual artist based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The Lowlands by the Northsea inspire me tremendously.The grandness of their landscapes, the intimacy of their towns. The canals and rivers, the harbours and boats, the windmills, churches and houses. The ever changing skies over polders and floodplains. For centuries, these lands have inspired painters like Van Ruisdael, Vermeer, Mesdag and Maris. I spend many a day exploring the Netherlands by foot or bike, capturing the beauty of the urban and rural scenery with my camera.
