A kaleidoscopic, mandala-like image, made by superimposing twelve copies of a photograph of aster flowers, rotated in 30 degree steps. In the image both circles and stars can be recognized, hence the name Place de l'Étoile (Square of the Star). The name aster in turn is derived from the Greek word for star, which brings the work full circle....

I'm a photographer, designer and visual artist based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The Lowlands by the Northsea inspire me tremendously.The grandness of their landscapes, the intimacy of their towns. The canals and rivers, the harbours and boats, the windmills, churches and houses. The ever changing skies over polders and floodplains. For centuries, these lands have inspired painters like Van Ruisdael, Vermeer, Mesdag and Maris. I spend many a day exploring the Netherlands by foot or bike, capturing the beauty of the urban and rural scenery with my camera.
