Description
Traveling by public transportation has one big disadvantage: you can't get off at every beautiful view to take a picture. This was especially frustrating during a bus ride between Stykkisholmur and Olafsvik, along the north coast of the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Iceland. Although it was early May, it had been snowing so the mountains were covered in a fresh white layer. Because there was no wind, the bays and fjords were mirrors. And also the dramatic skies were full of spectacle.
I took some pictures from the bus but you really shouldn't want to do that. For a good picture you have to be able to take the time to make a nice composition. Yet one of those photos was suitable for editing into this digital painting. Because of the simple shapes, the pyramid-shaped mountain and the round bay, there is peace in the composition.
Of course I looked up which mountain this is. With the help of Streetview I found out that it is the Eyrarhyrna. At 278 meters, it is a modest mountain, but still a lot higher than the Pyramid of Cheops.
